[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The State Government’s plan to help set up 30,000 new Micro and Small Scale Enterprises every year can work only if it opens up new industrial estates which is also found to be most lacking in the State with nearly 94% of the industries operating in private estates, said Sri R. Krishnamurthy, President, PIA.
Earlier, at an Interaction with industrialists and stakeholders organized at KASSIA on September 6, Sri Darpan Jain, IAS, Commissioner for Industrial Development and Director of Industries & Commerce, mentioned that the State Government was very keen on promoting investments especially by the MSMEs and keeping this in mind, the Industries Department targeted to set up around 30,000 MSMEs every year, which would also boost employment.
“The biggest problem existing and prospective entrepreneurs are facing is availability of industrial infrastructure including the most basic of all, viz. industrial land. This is clear from the fact that hardly 5 or 6 out of 100 industries in the State are operating in industrial estates established by the KSSIDC or the KIADB. Unless this is rectified by making available the required fully developed industrial land infrastructure, meeting the target will be next to impossible,” the PIA President remarked.
Acknowledging the thoughts expressed by PIA and other participants, Sri Darpan Jain outlined some critical areas that were crucial for the growth of industries, viz. water and the land. The Government was keen on supplying tertiary water for industries as Karnataka was a water-scarce State. Steps were also been taken to provide adequate land for industries in the State, he said and urged MSMEs to go in for cluster development. The Government was also very serious about improving industrial infrastructure in industrial estates and hoped that they would be able to use Special Purpose Vehicles for the purpose of maintenance of infrastructure.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
