[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Heavy rains over the past few weeks with Peenya Industrial Area recording 92 mm rainfall have brought Peenya and surrounding areas to its knees and among the worst affected were entrepreneurs and people returning home after work. Several were stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic as rain lashed all areas of Peenya, and especially the low-lying residential localities. Many areas suffered power outages ranging for many hours at a stretch.
PIA President Sri R. Krishnamurthy called on the civic authorities to address the grievances of the people on top priority, as the collateral damage in terms of productivity loss would be too heavy a price to pay, over and above the inconvenience caused by nature’s fury and man-made lethargy.
“The BBMP has to turn its attention to clearing the potholes which have become an extreme source of embarrassment especially for entrepreneurs when they have to host their overseas clients. Peenya is home to several world-class exporters whose products are accepted well in the global market and so we have a reputation to think of and protect. However, when our overseas clients come over to our factory, we are really embarrassed for no fault of ours, given the potholes and the garbage on the roads, which has become even more insufferable on account of the rains. We therefore appeal to the BBMP to first and foremost focus on filling of potholes and clearing of garbage in the roads in and around Peenya Industrial Area, for the issue has ramifications beyond civic inconvenience,” the PIA President observed.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
