[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Suresh Prabhu, the Union commerce and industries minister, hoped that the Micro, Small andn Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) would be the catalysts for a new India by creating more economic opportunities. He acknowledged the importance of the MSME sector and start-ups in helping India achieve growth.
Prabhu spoke at the 5 th India International MSME Startup Expo at Pragathi Maidan in New Delhi. He quoted the prime minister’s emphasis that the aim of a new India is possible only with the participation, development and regeneration of small and medium start-ups. Prabhu added that unlike large companies, MSMEs distribute wealth to different corners of India through equitable distribution of wealth. He further said that MSMEs are very vital in exports, promoting industrialisation and innovation.
Prabhu stressed on the need for promoting innovation and start-ups. He said that about 12 crore MSMEs directly and indirectly involve more than 60 crore people in India, therefore the country needs to promote them and the government is committed to do this. Promoting entrepreneurship and self-employment to generate as many jobs as possible has been the agenda of the exposition.
This event was a one-stop global forum to connect, network, partner and share information with domestic and international SMEs to find new business vistas in either country.
