Incoming President of PIA Sri R. Krishnamurthy shares his vision and views about the issues that will be taken up during his tenure on top priority, in this special interview:
We are looking at taking the engagement with our Members to the next level. We will soon introduce a Smart Card for this purpose.
We propose to add to our existing infrastructure at PIA Bhavan by taking up the construction of a new building adjacent to our premises, which will house a state-of-art Auditorium, Skill Development Centre, Conference Room, Seminar Hall, Product Display unit, etc. This will give a tremendous impetus to our activities and also add to the brand value of PIA.
Infrastructure in Peenya Industrial Area is another major area of concern. We propose to take up the infrastructure development work area-wise and will first focus on Peenya I Stage. We have already discussed the same with our jurisdictional MLAs, and concerned officials.
As South-East Asia’s largest industrial extension, Peenya Industrial Area compares poorly with other industrial areas in so far as industrial infrastructure is concerned.
Implementation of PICUP Components will be taken up with renewed vigour. We will involve subject experts to see how we can enhance the value of this project and make it more relevant to small industries in Peenya Industrial Area.
The State Government has announced that Peenya Industrial Area will be declared as an “Industrial Township Authority” in its Budget this year. We are going to pursue this vigorously and ensure it happens at the it’s early rollout.
Access to easy and timely credit on manageable terms is a perennial problem for micro and small entrepreneurs. We will therefore shortly launch a sister concern, called the PIA Credit Cooperative Society to meet this critical need of our Members.
There are many burning issues concerning micro and small entrepreneurs like for example, insistence of collateral by lending banks against RBI rules, lack of basic industrial infrastructure, etc which we will take up in an organized and persistent way by escalating it to the next higher authority so that it will reach its logical conclusion.
