[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]As part of the International MSME Day 2018 on 27 June, India’s President Ram Nath Kovind officially commenced the “Udyam Sangam 2018” in New Delhi. On this occasion, the President said the UdyamSakhi portal of the MSME Ministry would provide training to about 80 lakh women, thus helping them, as well as the weaker sections of society take up entrepreneurship.
He added that the MSME sector has been the force behind the inclusive growth in rural and backward areas, thereby boosting the democratic dividend of India.
The President mentioned in his speech that about 6.5 crore MSME units are operating in India, employing over 11 crore people, thus accounting for about 60% employment in the country. MSMEs contribute over 10% of the growth, more than the heavy industrial setups.
Appreciating the efforts of Arunachalam Muruganatham in manufacturing low-cost sanitary napkins to promote women’s hygiene, the President said that entrepreneurs in over 100 countries are now following in Arunachalam’s footsteps.
Moreover, the President initiated the Solar Charkha Mission on the occasion of the International MSME Day. This mission will have 50 clusters, with each employing 400 to 2000 artisans. The Government of India has approved this Mission. The MSME ministry will distribute subsidy of INR 550 crore to the artisans. The President asserted that the Solar Charkha Mission will create jobs in the rural areas and contribute to the green economy.
The President unveiled “Sampark” a portal of the MSME ministry. The portal will be an interface between the talent pool and the units seeking trained resources.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
