Karnataka (BESCOM) Solar Rooftop Policy 2019-20
After a long wait of more than four and half
months, the Solar Rooftop Policy is out in
Karnataka for year 2019-20. A gist of the
policy details is given below, for Member-
units and micro and small entrepreneurs
in Peenya Industrial Area, who wish to
know more about how they can benefit
from solar rooftop model:
For grid connected megawatt scale solar
power projects of less than 5MW capacity -
at Rs.3.08 per unit;
Rs 560 cr for State Govts to promote demand-driven,
industry linked skill development
On behalf of the Ministry of Skill
Development & Entrepreneurship
(MSDE), Union Minister, Dr. Mahendra
Nath Pandey announced the Centre's
commitment of Rs 560 crores to the State
Governments to promote demand-driven,
industry linked skill development at the
ground level.
The announcement was made at the
Annual National Conference of State
Ministers, which also saw the
commencement of the 'Apprenticeship
Pakhwada', a 15-day event aimed at
driving widespread awareness of the
Apprenticeship.

Photovoltaic projects of 1 kW to 2000kW -
at Rs. 3.07 per unit (without capital
subsidy) and at Rs.2.32 only per unit (with
capital subsidy)
For grid connected Solar Rooftop
Photovoltaic projects of 1 kW to 10 kW for
domestic consumers at Rs.3.99 per unit
(without capital subsidy) and at Rs.2.97
per unit (with capital subsidy);
The above tariff shall be applicable to all
such new solar power projects for which
PPAs are entered into on or after
01.04.2019 and approved by the
Commission after the date of issue of the
Order, that achieve commercial operation
on or after 01.04.2019;
The tenure of the PPA, shall be for the life
of the solar power projects i.e., twenty-five
(25) years.
The Order shall be in force with effect from
April 15, 2019 and till March 31, 2020.

lakh youth in the country.
The State(s) should ensure integration of
skills right at the school level so that the
youth can decide which skills to hone. At
the University level, we should promote
apprenticeship training as part the regular
degree courses, since on-the-job training
is the pre-requisite for any job, the
Minister said.
The Minister said that the Government,
both at the Centre and the State level,
should work towards a common
standardized assessment system.
